Who we are
This website, scentsofdreams.com, is operated by Scents Of Dreams, a perfume wholesale and retail business based in Ghana. This policy explains what personal data we collect from customers who shop with us online, in our physical shop, or by phone/WhatsApp, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
What personal data we collect
When you place an order, create an account, or contact us, we may collect:
- Your name, phone number, and email address
- Your delivery address (for online orders)
- Order details: products purchased, quantities, and prices
- Payment confirmation details from our payment processor (we do not store your card or mobile money PIN ourselves — see “Payment processing” below)
- Records of SMS or WhatsApp messages sent to you about your order (e.g. order confirmations, delivery updates)
- For in-store purchases, the same order details recorded by our point-of-sale system
Why we collect it
We use your personal data to:
- Process and deliver your order
- Contact you about your order (confirmations, delivery updates, delays)
- Handle returns, refunds, and customer service queries
- Keep accurate business and tax records
- Improve our products, pricing, and service
We collect and use your data on the basis that it is necessary to fulfil the order (sales) contract between us, and, where relevant, with your consent (for example, if you opt in to promotional SMS or WhatsApp messages).
Payment processing
Online payments are processed by Paystack, a licensed payment service provider. When you pay online, your card or mobile money details are entered directly with Paystack and are not seen or stored by us. Paystack’s own privacy policy governs how they handle that payment data.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary to run our business:
- Paystack — to process online payments
- SMS/messaging providers — to send order and delivery updates
- Delivery riders/couriers — your name, phone number, and delivery address, solely to deliver your order
- Where required by law, to the Ghana Revenue Authority or other government bodies
How long we keep your data
We keep order and customer records for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes above and to meet our legal and tax obligations under Ghanaian law, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
Your rights under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843)
You have the right to:
- Ask us what personal data we hold about you and request a copy of it
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated data
- Ask us to delete your data, subject to our legal obligation to retain certain records (e.g. for tax purposes)
- Withdraw consent to marketing messages at any time
- Object to how we process your data
- Lodge a complaint with Ghana’s Data Protection Commission if you believe we have mishandled your data
